Are You an Internet Slave? Find Out Here!

Do you stay glued to the internet for five hours and more, everyday doing frivolous things like;

  • Chatting with total strangers?
  • Chatting with anybody that indicates interest?
  • Searching for the latest dating sites where you can hook up with a ‘responsible’ man or woman?
  • Watching obscene pictures and videos?
  • Cursing and quarrelling with everyone and anyone over religious, ethnic, regional or political issues?
  • Pretending to be
    one celerity or another and using the platform to dupe vulnerable people into giving you money?
Then, you are an internet slave!
These things don’t add value to one’s life, you will agree with me. As a matter of fact, they reduce one’s efficiency in life, as you may know. There are lots of valuable things one can do with the internet. Apart from surfing the net to obtain useful materials for your projects and assignments or just for the sake of knowledge and learning or for news to be updated with happenings around the globe, one can also find other useful things one can do with the opportunities the internet offers. Like something unique that only a few people know just yet or even something that you invent, probably, because you see a need for that. There is always the higher level. Take for instance, Mark Elliot Zuckerberge, an American computer programmer who is the CEO of one of the biggest social networks in the world, ‘facebook’. Born in 1984, Zuckerberge started facebook in 2004, and today, he makes billions of Dollars from it. Like every other business, his did not succeed without struggles. It takes hard work and perseverance to succeed. Mark and every other successful person will tell you that.

So, next time you try something and it seems not to be working, try and try and try again because that is the secret to success.

The internet can be a blessing as well as a curse to the human race. The choice is only yours to make, whichever one you want it to be for you. So, I encourage us to have some iota of discipline and let go of those time-wasting activities on the internet and take advantage of the internet platform and do useful things. At the end of the day, we would have been useful to ourselves, our society and the world at large.

Use your time well. Be conscious of the time you spend on the internet and WHAT you spend it doing. It will help you retrace your steps if you are going the wrong way.

And, next time you sit in front of that computer, it better be something POSITIVE!
